IRS: Get My Payment Portal

The IRS “Get My Payment” Portal is now active. It allows taxpayers to give the agency direct deposit information for their bank accounts if they didn’t include it on their 2018 or 2019 returns. Treasury and IRS officials are hoping to get the stimulus payments to as many people as possible through direct deposit to avoid delays.

The Get My Payment portal will also allow people to track the status of their payments.  This application will give you information about:

  • Your payment status
  • Your payment type

Whether the IRS needs more information from you, including bank account information (account number, routing number, etc.)

You May Need:

  • Your 2019 return, if filed, and
  • Your 2018 return

You want to avoid any reason to get a paper check if you need the money as we are hearing that it could take months to get paper checks from the IRS.
